RAY COUNTY, Mo. — A sandbagging operation is underway in Ray County.
Area residents are asked to assist with the operation throughout the day Friday.
The operation is taking place at 8807 Willard Blvd., which is roughly half way between Richmond and Henrietta in rural Ray County.
Hardin Police Chief Ted Kuhlman is in charge of the operation and is asking for volunteers throughout the day. With the threat of more incoming rain, Kuhlman said the effort could last throughout the weekend if needed.
“As long as we can, we’re going to try and stop the water. If we get enough surplus then we will probably stop sandbagging,” Kuhlman said.
Kuhlman said they filled more than 10,000 sandbags on Thursday.
Volunteers should come dressed to work.
