A dinner and auction in Concordia this evening will benefit local resident Phyllis Lynn. Click to hear KMZU’s Kristie Cross speak with organizer Kathy Lynn:
Proceeds from Saturday’s event will benefit Phyllis Lynn and the medical costs associated with her battle against lung cancer. “They found a 3.4 centimeter spot on her left upper lobe,” said Lynn, “In January of 2014, they surgically removed the spot. Due to it being so close to the blood stream, they recommended chemo treatments and so she did that for 16 weeks. At this time, she is cancer free. They will probably re-check her next year.”
A full meal will be served to those attending the benefit. “We will serve brisket, pork shoulders, baked beans, and potato salad,” said Lynn, “Some area churches are donating homemade breads and desserts.”
Both a silent and live auction are on the agenda and will feature many items from local businesses and area artists, handmade crafts, air hockey and ping pong tables, area rug, furniture, and much more.
The benefit will be held at the Community Center located at 802 S. Gordon Street in Concordia from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Anonymous donations can also be made to the Phyllis Lynn Benefit fund at State Bank of Missouri in Concordia.
