CARROLL COUNTY, Mo – A scam reported by a Carroll County resident indicates a Drug Enforcement Agency’s phone number in Texas was cloned.

The Sheriff’s Department believes the instigator of the call was attempting to elicit banking information from the resident by claiming their information had been used as part of a drug trafficking and money laundering scheme. In a post yesterday by the Department, “The Drug Enforcement Administration urges the public to be cautious of telephone calls from criminals posing as DEA or other law enforcement personnel threatening arrest and prosecution for supposed violations of federal drug laws.
