Residents were able to give their input this week during a public meeting regarding the future of Odessa’s 1912 School Complex. Click to hear KMZU’s Sarah Scott speak with City Administrator Jon Holmes:
Holmes said the issue is an emotional one for some people. “But I encourage people to keep an open mind and realize that the Board of Aldermen is looking at how best to use the resources that are available to us,” said Holmes, ” And that spending $20,000 a year on something that we’re not getting any discernible use out of is something that the Board is very, very concerned with. And we would like to change that.”
Several people at the meeting suggested turning the building into a City Hall, but Holmes believes this is not a financially viable option.
