Original story: More than 50 people are expected to join the search for a missing Kingsville teen on Tuesday.  Brian Vanmeter, 18, went missing Sunday when the boat he and two friends were navigating capsized.

Authorities said Vanmeter was boating with friends around 6 p.m. Sunday on Big Creek near Harrisonville when the boat struck something in the water and overturned. Vanmeter’s friends swam safely to shore, but he didn’t make it.

Harrisonville Fire Chief David Miller said no one in the boat was wearing a life jacket. Recent elevated rainfall amounts are making the search more difficult, according to crews searching for Vanmeter.
