MERCER COUNTY, MO – A jailbreak out of Mercer County reportedly involved a Kansas City man who is currently at large.
The Sheriff’s Department of Mercer County confirmed, Drake Kately, 27, escaped Wednesday night after 8 p.m. by forming a cavity in the back of the jail cell, and using an old coal chute. Deputies spoke with a person in Humphreys who allegedly provided a ride to Kately, and informed deputies Kately was going to Kansas City. KC authorities are now searching for Kately there.
Kately also has a current felony court case for a previous escape attempt from August 9. A hearing in that case is scheduled for September 3. Law enforcement is planning to recommend new charges related to Kately’s latest, successful escape attempt.
