A presentation on Secret Societies will be held in Arrow Rock Saturday morning. Click to hear KMZU’s Sarah Scott speak with Executive Director Kathy Borgman:
Organizations such as the Masons and the Odd Fellows met important needs in the community during the 1800s. Alisha Cole will speak on the roles these groups played in Arrow Rock.
“Men, while they were living and members of the lodges, contributed and supported them. And then at times of need the lodge would step in and help,” said Borgman, “So they were quite an important, met an important need of people. And also were just a social outlet and a lot of fun for the people to be part of, too.”
That talk will begin at 10:00 a.m. in the Arrow Rock State Historic Site Visitor’s Center. It was originally scheduled for last Saturday, but was postponed due to the weather.
