The Sedalia City Council approved four landing sites for air ambulances during their meeting on Tuesday. A new ordinance would designate the Sedalia Regional Airport, the Air Evac Lifeteam base, Bothwell Regional Health Center and the First United Methodist Church Celebration Center as landing zones within the city limits. “It makes it safe for the pilots, our citizens, and those being transported,” Horn said. “It is one of the most dangerous jobs with the highest fatality rate for pilots. We felt we were being proactive in addressing the issue now before we have a tragic accident. We’re really excited to be able to do this for our community.”
The ordinance allows helicopters to land at sites other than the four designated in certain emergency situations.
