This Saturday, September 20th, the city of Sedalia will hold another neighborhood clean-up. Residents are asked to join in and help neighbors that may not be able to maintain their property as well as they used to. City Housing Specialist, Jamie Bethel, talks about the neighborhood crews will clean that day.
“We’re gonna start from Ohio, at 16th and head east down to 28th St. and back up to New York and from Ohio East to Arlington,” she said.
“The more people we can get involved in these events, I think the more people take interest and are invested in their neighborhood & community at large. We want to help people get those items out, clean up their neighborhood & get to know people,” Bethel stated.
Bethel adds that all volunteers have to do is show up at eight a.m. Saturday at the City Garage, 901 E. 3rd St.
“We provide everything they need, breakfast, lunch, and during these events we split off into teams and we have people take us water and get us supplies we need,” Bethel explains.
“This next time, on the 20th, we also are doing a stream clean-up. Once a year we do that anyway, so we thought it would be best to combine these efforts on these same days. We want to make the most of our volunteers and do this as simply as possible,” she concluded.
