Council will take a vote on the issue at their June 17th meeting.  Monday’s work session gave members a chance to ask questions about the latest draft.  The main change was to exempt private clubs from the ordinance, unless they are holding a public event like bingo nights.  There was some discussion of whether bars should be included in the ordinance.  As it currently reads, smoking would not be allowed in Sedalia’s bars.

If approved at the next Council meeting, the ordinance will go into effect September 1st.  A copy can be viewed at

Council also approved a bid from Prism Contractors and Engineers, Inc. for smoke testing of some of the city’s sanitary sewer lines.  They also approved a bid to replace the roof of the Central Fire Station, which has been in use since the 1970s.
