Several budget items topped the agenda at Monday night’s Sedalia City Council meeting. Click to hear KMZU’s Kristie Cross talk with Mayor Elaine Horn:
In an effort to enhance convenience for residents, council members voted unanimously to allocate funds toward the purchase of new equipment for the city’s public works department. “The trash dumpsters are rented by business and picked up by the city on a regular basis,” said Mayor Horn, “The truck is for picking up bulk items. We have typically, in the past, done a spring and fall clean-up where we pick up large items from residents and, with this truck, we a going to look at doing it on- demand rather than annually.”
In other business, members accepted amendments to the Memorandum of Understanding between the city and Sedalia Fire Fighters, approved a construction ordinance in regards to codes related to driveways, curbs, and sidewalks, and approved the low bid of about $6700 to complete to build a 32-niche model columbarium at Crown Hill Cemetery.
