SEDALIA, MO – A Sedalia resident has been charged with conspiracy to deliver contraband into the Pettis County Jail.

An arraignment hearing took place Wednesday for Austin M tinker who is accused of felonies for attempting to deliver marijuana into a jail, and delivery or possession of a weapon. According to a probable cause statement, an investigation begun June 15 by Pettis County deputies reviewed phone recordings of conversations between Tinker, and an inmate, Henry Ward, who is in custody for robbery and assault. The statement indicates Ward planned to stage accidental falls for which he would be taken to Bothwell Hospital. Tinker would then plant the contraband in the jail transport vehicle. Tinker was apprehended near the Bothwell emergency room by deputies who confiscated marijuana, tobacco, and a lighter.

Continuance of the case is scheduled for July 3. Bond is set at $25,000.
