PETTIS COUNTY, Mo. — A Sedalia man is facing multiple felony drug and weapon-related charges in Pettis County.

According to a probable cause statement filed in a Pettis County courtroom, Sedalia Police served a warrant in the 500 block of East 2nd Street just before 6:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 4 for drug-related activity at a residence in the area.

When officers entered the home, they found the subject of the warrant, Timothy Cota, 26 asleep in a bedroom inside the residence with an infant present in the same room.

Officers searched the room and residence and reported finding multiple firearms, drugs and items related to the distribution of drugs.

Among the evidence recovered was over 11 grams of a substance which tested positive as methamphetamine, marijuana, a handgun reported stolen in Blue Springs, two other firearms, a digital scale and other items commonly associated with drug distribution.

Cota is now charged with felonies for possession of a controlled substance except 35 grams or less of marijuana, delivery of a controlled substance, two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm and a single count of unlawful use of a weapon – subsection 11.

Bond for Cota was set at $90,000, cash or surety allowed. He is currently in custody at the Pettis County Jail. Future court dates are currently pending.
