(UPDATE: 5 p.m. June 30, 2016)

Sedalia police have arrested two suspects in connection with the investigation.  Aran Cantrell, 21, and Cody Harvey, 23, both of Sedalia were arrested and formally charged with 1st degree arson.  They were taken to the Pettis County Jail on a bond of $250,000.

Police say the investigation into Eldenburg’s death continues, awaiting results from toxicology and pathology.

The Sedalia Police Department has made a news release identifying the man in the residence. The man, 30 year old Matthew Eldenburg, was given CPR following the fire before he was transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

SEDALIA, Mo.– The Sedalia Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire in the afternoon of June 23, at 1903 S. Grand in Sedalia. fire truck 2

Fire crews found a single story residential structure heavy with fire. Crews were able to make a quick knock down entry. On the first search, crews found a white male subject inside. Bringing the man out of the home, they began CPR.

The individual was later pronounced dead at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia.

The investigation into the fire is being handled by the Sedalia Fire Department, detectives from the Sedalia Police Department and investigators from the Mo State Fire Marshall’s office. Additional information will be released when it becomes available.
