JEFFERSON CITY, Mo–Federal compliance on identification cards comes into focus for one Senate panel.
The Missouri Senate General Laws and Pensions Committee spent time on Tuesday afternoon, February 16, 2016, going through Senate Bill 902, legislation that would allow the Missouri Department of Revenue to issue REAL ID compliant driver’s licenses and identification cards.
During discussion, Sen. Jill Schupp of Creve Coeur and bill sponsor – Sen. Ryan Silvey of Kansas City – talked about the continuing questions of who needs REAL ID, where and when…
Schupp: “I didn’t realize that this is already being put into place on our military bases and some of our federal buildings in Missouri. I thought we had a two-year lag. That’s not the case?”
Silvey: “The two-year lag is on the federally regulated aircraft, but the first step of federal buildings and military bases is already in effect.”
Schupp: “It is in effect.”
Silvey: “That’s my understanding.”
Senate Bill 902 awaits final committee action.
