As gas prices inch toward the four dollar mark, one Missouri Senator is calling for more domestic oil production. Senator Bill Stouffer of Saline County said this country has a tremendous amount of supplies available. “We need to be using our energy resources. We need to develop those and I think if there was a commitment by the United States to use our energy resources, we would see prices come into line much more quickly. When we rely so much on the Middle East, which tends to be very volatile, we’re going to get what we have now. When we have an upset over there, we pay the price here,” said Stouffer.
The average price for a gallon of regular gasoline in Missouri is $3.39.
