WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee announced today that U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.) will serve as Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies.
“Growing up on a dairy farm, I understand personally just how critical agriculture is to Missouri’s economy,” said Blunt. “I’m honored to serve as the Ranking Member for the Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture and Rural Development, and I look forward to addressing the important issues facing farmers, ranchers, and rural communities nationwide.”
Blunt will also serve on four additional Appropriations Subcommittees:
* Transportation and Housing and Urban Development Subcommittee;
* Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies;
* Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Subcommittee; and
* State, Foreign Operations Subcommittee.
“Americans sent a clear message last fall that we need to rein in spending and ensure the government is not bigger than the people,” Blunt continued. “The Appropriations Committee is faced with the important task of ensuring that we are good stewards of the taxpayers’ dollars, and I’m committed to taking a fiscally-responsible approach to funding the nation’s programs while reducing any wasteful or duplicative spending.”
