MISSOURI — Senator Roy Blunt is participating in a livestream discussion Thursday
According to a press release, Senator Blunt is joining Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow and actress Glenn Close for a Washington Post live discussion on mental health and addiction treatment.
The discussion will focus on Blunt and Stabenow’s Excellence in Mental Health and Addiction Treatment Expansion Act. The act created an eight-state demonstration program to expand access to community mental health services and strengthen the quality of care for those living with mental and behavioral health issues.
In December 2016, Blunt announced that Missouri was one of eight states selected to participate in the program.
Funding for CCBHCs is set to run out in eight states, including Missouri, on June 30 unless Congress extends the funding.
Glenn Close is a strong supporter of this legislation and a mental health advocate. She started the organization Bring Change 2 Mind in 2010 to end the stigma and discrimination surrounding mental illness.
The stream begins at 9 a.m. Thursday.
The discussion will be livestreamed here.
