Press Release from State Fair Community College:

SEDALIA — The Daum Museum of Contemporary Art on the State Fair Community College campus will sponsor “Bring Mom to the Daum” from 1-3 p.m. on Mother’s Day May 8.

The free event will feature hands-on activities led by museum staff relating to the art of exhibiting artist Douglass Freed of Sedalia. Art projects will be geared to all ages and abilities. Activities will include creating a 6-foot by 8-foot color-by-number mural, perfect for groups, and marking 8-inch by 10-inch individual inkblot landscapes.

Also planned are museum tours, refreshments and drawings for a Mother’s Day gift basket and a child’s art supply basket. The first 100 mothers will receive spring flowers.

The exhibition, Douglass Freed, Paintings, 1973-2010, features more than 40 paintings drawn from the collections of the Daum, the artist and public and private holdings in St. Louis, Kansas City and Sedalia. It continues through May 26.
