State Fair Community College Music Department is back in the swing of things for the 2014-2015 school year. “These will be our first concerts for this academic year,” Sayer said, “Our fall concerts will feature our two choirs, Jazz and Chamber, as well as our Jazz Band.”
The choir’s at this institution will show off their talents in some amazing musical arrangements. “Our Jazz Choir tends to specialize in more 30’s and 40’s music, what you might consider from the big band era,” said Sayer, “The Chamber Choir is singing a wide variety of music. For this concert we are going all the way back to the renaissance for one piece, we are doing an African American Spiritual, and we are even doing a piece from Mongolia. So it’s a very wide range of styles.”
For them, it’s serious and still something they love doing. “We have an outstanding group of students here this semester,” said Sayer, “They really enjoy what they are doing and we have a lot of fun doing what we’re doing. Now we’d like to share that with the community. It doesn’t matter if you’re young or old or what your back ground is, I am sure you will hear something that you will love.”
