UPDATE: – 9 p.m. – A Trenton Police Officer shot while transporting prisoners, is reportedly in critical condition, according to Highway Patrol.
The suspect, Jamey A. Griffin, 35, used the female officer’s firearm to shoot her in the abdomen during a struggle inside the vehicle after 3 p.m. Friday afternoon near Winston. Griffin sustained a gunshot wound to the hand. The injured officer was taken to an area hospital by helicopter.
UPDATE: – 6 p.m. – The officer involved in a shooting Friday afternoon, has been sent to an area hospital.
Missouri Highway Patrol says a female Trenton Police Officer was transporting prisoners when she was shot during a struggle inside the vehicle. A statement suggests the suspect, who is currently in custody, used the officer’s weapon to shoot her in the abdomen. The suspect is in custody according to Daviess County Emergency Management.
Highway Patrol investigators say the information provided is preliminary at this time.
WINSTON, MO – A law enforcement officer was reportedly involved in a shooting incident near Winston Friday afternoon.
The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office says the condition of the involved officer, who is not with the Sheriff’s Department, will not be divulged at this time.
