The University of Central Missouri is hosting its 3rd annual Show Me Justice Film Festival this week. Click to hear KMZU’s Sarah Scott speak with Festival Director Mark von Schlemmer:
45 short films and 8 feature films will be shown, including documentaries, narratives, and experimental experimental films. “This is really a great oppotunity for people in this area to kind of get a feel for the film festival and experience,” said von Schlemmer, “And these are films that you can’t see anywhere else. They really don’t get mainstream release. They’re independently produced and they’re really created with great passion. They’re not going to make lots of money from these films they’re making; they’re making them because they believe in the subjects and they believe in the stories they’re trying to tell.”
The four-day festival kicks off with an opening reception Wednesday at 6:00 p.m and runs through Saturday evening. More information, including a full schedule, can be found at www.ucmo.edu/filmfest.
