>>Local Teams Delay Starts Because of Heat
Due to the extreme heat this week, the game times for the Crest Ridge vs. East Buchanan and Salisbury v. Scotland County football matchups today (Fri) will be moved to 7:30. A number of other area teams have pushed back their start times as well. Today’s (Fri) games at Wentworth Military Academy, Concordia, Odessa and Windsor have been moved eight. The Game of the Week on KRLI which features Oak Grove at Lexington will also start at eight.

(Kansas City, MO) — Tyler Bray threw three touchdown passes as the Chiefs pummeled the Packers 30-8 in the preseason finale at Arrowhead. Cyrus Gray added 72 yards on the ground on 13 carries for KC, which went 2-and-2 in exhibition play. Neither Alex Smith or Aaron Rodgers played. The Chiefs open the regular season September 8th at Jacksonville.

(St. Louis, MO) — The St. Louis Rams ended the preseason with a 1-and-3 record after their 24-21 win over the defending Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens at the Edward Jones Dome. Backup quarterback Kellen Clemens threw for 188 yards as the Rams rested many starters. The regular season begins on September 8th at home against the Arizona Cardinals.

(Undated) — The college football season begins this weekend for Kansas, Kansas State and Missouri. The Wildcats kick off their campaign tonight at home against North Dakota State. The Jayhawks and Tigers open their seasons tomorrow. Kansas plays host to South Dakota at 6 p.m., while Mizzou entertains Murray State, also with a 6 p.m. kickoff.

(Minneapolis, MN) — Bruce Chen allowed just one run over five-and-two-thirds innings as the Royals beat the Twins 3-1 in Minnesota. Greg Holland notched his 36th save as KC completed a three-game sweep and won its fifth straight overall. Alcides Escobar, Chris Getz and Alex Gordon all singled in runs in the second inning for the Royals. The Royals continue their road trip north of the border tonight as they take on the Blue Jays. Ervin Santana starts for KC. He’s 8-and-7 with a 3.21 ERA. Toronto counters with Mark Buehrle [[ BURR-lee ]], who is 10-and-7 with a 4.08 ERA. At 69-and-64, the Royals are six games behind the Rays and A’s in the AL Wild Card race.
