Leeton held their annual softball round-robin tournament on Saturday. The tournament featured teams from hometown Leeton, Kingsville, Lakeland, and Osceola. Kingsville claimed the first place trophy by defeating the Leeton Lady Bulldogs 7-6. The Lady Bulldogs won their other two games decisively defeating Osceola (12-0), and Lakeland (20-2).

Several Lady Bulldogs had outstanding tournament performances. Senior Megan Uptegrove failed to reach base only once in the tournament hitting .875 and establishing an on base percentage of .909. Uptegrove scored 9 runs and banged in 8 RBI’s for the day. She also pitched 9 innings in the three games walking 3 and striking out 11 bringing her career total strike outs to 627 with two weeks of the season left to play.

Sophomore Shannon Binder also played well, finishing the day with a .667 batting average and an on base percentage of .909. Binder scored 7 runs and had 2 RBIs for the day.

Junior Shianne Sullins ended the day with a .667 avg., on base percentage of .727, scored 3 runs and contributed 7 RBIs.

Sophomore catcher Jordan Page hit .600 for the tournament, on base .727, scored 6 runs and was credited with 8 RBIs.

The Lady Bulldogs are scheduled for a full week of home games this week. They will play, weather permitting, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday all games at home at 4:30.


Due to wet conditions over the weekend the American Legion baseball tryouts in Chillicothe were cancelled and have been rescheduled. Players will have the option of attending one of the three-(3) tryout locations. The first is at Braymer at Anderson Memorial Field from 6-8pm on Friday night. The other two tryouts locations are at Danner Memorial Park from 1-4 pm on both Sat and Sunday. Kansas City lost to Minnesota 7 – 4 on Sunday. The Royals travel to Detroit tonight with the first pitch against the Tigers scheduled for 6:05.


Milwaukee beat St. Louis 3 – 2 Sunday. The Cardinals are off today. The Redbirds open up a three game series at home Tuesday night against the Pittsburgh Pirates.


Norborne “Chute” Camp coming in July

The event is coming up July 9th and 10th. They will have a 4th – 8th grade camp 12:30 – 3:30 and a 9th – 12th grade group from 8:30 – 11:30 both mornings. For more information contact Norborne AD Michael Lock.

Stanberry will be hosting a varsity shootout for boys and girls. Guarantee 4 games. $150.00 per team. We will have MSHSAA sanctioned officials. The dates are:

Girls – Monday-June 11th and Tuesday-June 12th.

Boys – Wednesday – June 13th, and Thursday-June 14th.

We will run from 9:00 – 5:00. We would like for each team to play two games each day, if possible. We are willing to allow teams to play all games in one day if they need to.

Jenni Croy head womens basketball coach at North Central Missouri College along with Lesli Wyatt assistant coach will be offering a new camp option this summer. We will travel to your school and put on a 3-hour clinic for basketball players of all ages. Our focus will be on player development. We will work with both girls and/or boys.
