In Class 3 high school playoff baseball the Marshall Owls will take on a Westminster team Friday at 1 p.m. In Class 4 action, Liberty has moved on to the final four bracket. They face Rockwood Summit Friday at 4 p.m.
The final four was determined Wednesday for Class 1 and 2 in the state high school baseball tournament. The Santa Fe Chiefs face Oran Wednesday morning at 10 in Springfield. The Norwood Pirates and Sturgeon Bulldogs are the other two Class 1 final four teams. They match up Wednesday at 1.
In Class 2 the South Callaway Bulldogs take on Clever Wednesday night at 7. The Summit Christian Academy Eagles face Valle Catholic in a Wednesday afternoon matchup. The state high school baseball final four games for all classes are being played at Meador Park in Springfield.
BALTIMORE (AP) – Jeff Francoeur and Billy Butler each homered yesterday to lead the Kansas City Royals past the Baltimore Orioles 4-2. Tim Collins earned the win for the Royals after tossing one-and-a-third perfect innings in relief of starter Luke Hochevar. Baltimore outfielder Adam Jones extended his hitting streak to 18 games.

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Yadier Molina hit a grand slam yesterday as the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Philadelphia Phillies 8-3. Carlos Beltran and rookie Matt Adams also homered for the Cardinals. Phillies starter Roy Halladay left after two innings with shoulder soreness.
The Redbirds are in Atlanta to start a three game series with the Braves at 12:10 this afternoon.
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Missouri won its first conference baseball title since 1980 after beating Oklahoma 8-7 yesterday in the Big 12 championship game. Ben Turner and Dillon Everett each drove in two runs for the Tigers, who are leaving for the Southeastern Conference next season. Oklahoma’s Steven Okert took the loss after giving up the go-ahead run in the eighth.
KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) — Sporting Kansas City broke a four-match winless streak yesterday by beating the San Jose Earthquakes 2-1. C.J. Sapong snapped a seven-match goal drought and Kei Kamara added a goal for Sporting KC. Simon Dawkins netted a goal in the 72nd minute for San Jose.
