(Baltimore, MD)  — Alex Gordon hit a pair of solo homers to power the Royals to a 7-3 win over Baltimore Saturday.  Salvador Perez lifted a two-run shot and Billy Butler added a solo bomb for Kansas City, which has won four-of-five.  Luis Mendoza allowed three runs across six frames to pick up the victory for the Royals.  Manny Machado doubled in a run while Omar Quintanilla added a two-run single for the Orioles.  Chris Tillman was rocked for six runs over five-and-two-thirds innings of work to take the loss.  The O’s have dropped two of the first three contests in the four-game series after winning their previous five tests.  The teams endured a rain delay of over three hours prior to the start of the contest.

Royals manager Ned Yost says the bullpen did a great job to shut things down late.

Royals left fielder Alex Gordon says he had to adjust his approach against Chris Tillman throughout the game.

The Royals will go for the series win at Camden Yards with Bruce Chen on the mound facing Baltimore’s Tommy Hunter; first pitch at 12:35.

(Philadelphia, PA)  — Matt Holliday went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBI to lead the Cardinals to a 4-1 win over the Phillies Saturday.  Jake Westbrook shut down the Philadelphia bats, dealing seven-and-two-thirds innings of one-run ball to improve to 12-and-8 as the Cards evened up the three-game set at one game apiece.  Jason Motte nailed down his 26th save.  Ryan Howard plated the only run on a fielder’s choice in the first inning for the Phils.  Cliff Lee allowed all four runs across seven innings for the loss.

Cardinals manager Mike Matheny says Jake Westbrook was locked in.

The series is tied 1-1, the Cardinals will go for the series win this afternoon at 12:35 with right hander Lance Linn taking on the Phillies righty Vance Worley.
