ST. LOUIS (AP) — Third baseman Will Middlebrooks tripped Allen Craig for a game-ending obstruction call on Jon Jay’s ninth-inning grounder, giving the St. Louis Cardinals a bizarre 5-4 win over the Boston Red Sox Saturday night. The Cardinals have a 2-1 World Series lead headed into today’s Game 4 at Busch Stadium. First pitch is at 7 o’clock tonight.

The Kansas City Chiefs look for an opportunity to go 8-0 when they face the struggling Cleveland Browns this afternoon at Arrowhead Stadium at noon.

COLUMBIA, Mo. Fry kicked a 40-yarder before Missouri’s Andrew Baggett missed a 24-yard attempt off the left goal post in Columbia.

MARTINSVILLE, Va. (AP) — Darrell Wallace Jr. became the first black driver in a half-century to win on NASCAR’s national level, taking the Truck Series race Saturday at Martinsville Speedway.

Wendell Scott won in Jacksonville, Fla., in December 1963 in what is now known as the Sprint Cup Series, the highest of NASCAR’s three national levels.

The 20-year-old Wallace, driving for Kyle Busch Motorsports, beat Jeb Burton into Turn 1 off a restart with five laps to go. Wallace was never below sixth place and led a race-high 96 laps but needed to survive a final restart. Wallace chose the inside line for the reset and quickly pulled away from Burton.
