>>Suspended Tejada Linked To Biogenesis

(Undated)  —  Suspended Royals infielder Miguel Tejada apparently has ties to Biogenesis.  ESPN’s Pedro Gomez reports Tejada was part of baseball’s investigation into the South Florida anti-aging clinic.  Tejada was recently suspended 105 games for amphetamines, but was reportedly given a choice to be suspended for that or his Biogenesis connection.

(Milwaukee, WI)  —  Jon Jay hit a two-run homer and Carlos Beltran added a solo shot as the Cardinals picked up an 8-5 win over the Brewers last night at Miller Park.  Matt Adams and Matt Carpenter each singled in a run in the eighth before David Freese doubled in two.  Michael Wacha got the win in relief for St. Louis despite allowing three runs in one inning while Edward Mujica notched his 32nd save.  The Cards have won three straight and are a half-game back of the Pirates in the NL Central.  The Cardinals and Brewers play the middle game of three tonight at Miller Park in Milwaukee.  St. Louis sends 13-game winner Lance Lynn to the mound.  The Crew will counter with Kyle Lohse [[ lowsh ]].  First pitch is scheduled for 7:10.

(Kansas City, MO)  —  The Royals are back home to host the White Sox tonight in the first of three at Kauffman Stadium.  Ervin Santana, who is 8-and-6, goes up against 2-and-10 John Danks.  The Royals lost three of five in Detroit over the weekend.  KC is 64-and-58, eight-and-a-half back in the AL Central and six-and-a-half back in the Wild Card race.

>>Chiefs Acquire Jenkins From 49ers

(Kansas City, MO)  —  The Chiefs and 49ers are swapping disappointing wide receivers.  KC has sent Jonathan Baldwin to San Francisco in exchange for A.J. Jenkins.  Both are former first-round draft picks.  Jenkins played just three games for the Niners last season and did not have a reception.  Baldwin had 20 catches and one TD in 15 games last year.

(Jacksonville, FL)  —  Former Missouri quarterback Blaine Gabbert will be the starter for the Jacksonville Jaguars when they open the regular season.  First-year head coach Gus Bradley made the announcement Monday.  Gabbert had been competing in camp with veteran Chad Henne [[ HENN-ee ]].  Gabbert is going to miss the rest of the preseason with a hairline fracture in his right thumb, but will be under center for the Jags’ regular-season opener September 8th against the Kansas City Chiefs.

>>Rams Head Back To Practice

(Earth City, MO)  —  The Rams were back on the practice field yesterday looking to improve after Saturday’s preseason loss to the Green Bay Packers.  Running back Zac Stacy was back on the field after missing Saturday’s game.  Linebacker Sammy Brown, safety Matt Giordano and linebacker Jabara Williams all sat out of practice.  Rookie wide receiver Tavon Austin, safety T.J. McDonald, safety Darian Stewart and center Scott Wells also did not participate.  The Rams practice again today in preparation for Saturday’s tilt against the Broncos in Denver.

>>Richardson Named Rams Starting RB

(Earth City, MO)  —  Rams head coach Jeff Fisher has decided on a starting running running back.  Second-year pro Daryl Richardson will be the lead tailback.  He is replacing St. Louis great Steven Jackson.  Richardson ran for 475 yards on 98 carries last year.  He also caught 24 passes for 162 yards.  Richardson beat out fellow second-year back Isaiah Pead, who was picked five rounds earlier than him in the 2012 draft.  Rookie Zac Stacy was also in the mix.
