High School Baseball

In High School Baseball Monday at Odessa High School, in Class 4 District 13 action, Oak Grove defeated Grain Valley 9-5 and it was Marshall over Excelsior Springs 10-6.  So now Wednesday, the Owls and Panthers will play for the District Championship and we will have the Play-By-Play on KRLI Country 103.9. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. Wednesday.


Central Missouri Athletics Director Jerry Hughes has announced that Kyle Crookes has been promoted from assistant coach to head coach for Mules Baseball to succeed Tom Myers who retired at the end of the season. Crookes has been the top assistant for the Mules the previous two seasons, helping the Mules to a 71-29 record and an MIAA Regular Season championship this year. His offenses were consistently in the top 20 in the nation, including eighth in the country in runs scored last year.  Prior to joining Central Missouri, he served eight seasons as the head coach at Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College.


High School Basketball

Knob Noster Panthers All-Conference/ All-District center David Barton signs a letter of intent to play basketball at North Central Missouri College in Trenton.  David was a 3 year starter for the Panthers that compiled over 50 wins in that span.



The Chicago White Sox climbed out of a five-run hole before holding on for a wild 7-6 win over the Kansas City Royals last night. Zach Putnam worked two shutout innings in relief of Scott Carroll. Ronald Belisario also threw two scoreless innings before Scott Downs and Jake Petricka bailed out Matt Lindstrom.
