(Kansas City, KS)  —  Andrew Albers took a four-hitter into the ninth inning in his major-league debut and led the Twins to a 7-0 win over the Royals at Kauffman Stadium.  James Shields was rocked for all seven runs in six frames as he fell to 6-and-8.  Eric Hosmer and Billy Butler were each 2-for-3 but Kansas City had its three-game winning streak snapped.  The Royals and Twins play the rubber match of a three-game set tonight.  Kansas City is 57-and-53, eight-and-a-half games behind the Tigers for first place the AL Central and five games out of the second wild card spot.  Danny Duffy makes his first start of the season for Kansas City opposite Samuel Deduno.

>>Cards Snap Dodgers’ Road Win Streak

(St. Louis, MO)  —  Matt Adams hit a two-run homer to power the Cardinals to a 5-1 win over the Dodgers at Busch Stadium, snapping Los Angeles’ franchise-record 15-game road winning streak.  Carlos Beltran also hit a homer for St. Louis, which has won four out of six.  Joe Kelly gave up one run over five-and-a-third innings to move to 3-and-3.  The Cardinals and Dodgers play the third of four games tonight at Busch Stadium.  Shelby Miller carries his 11-and-7 mark to the hill for St. Louis.  Los Angeles sends Ricky Nolasco to the mound.  Nolasco is 7-and-9 with a 3.78 ERA.  First pitch is set for 7:00.

>>Chiefs To Use Full Roster For Preseason Opener

(St. Joseph, MO)  —  The Chiefs’ preseason opener is Friday night in New Orleans.  Head coach Andy Reid will be playing all healthy bodies in the game.  All four quarterbacks, Alex Smith, Chase Daniel, Tyler Bray and Ricky Stanzi, will get snaps.  Yesterday was Kansas City’s final practice before the exhibition game.

>>Rams Travel To Cleveland Today

(Cleveland, OH)  —  The Rams are off to Cleveland today ahead of tomorrow’s preseason opener against the Browns.  Yesterday the team was in full pads for practice in Earth City.  St. Louis will have a light walk-through practice before their flight today.  Head coach Jeff Fisher says there are a number of position battles he will have a close eye on during tomorrow night’s game.

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Riley Cooper returned from his excused absence and practiced with the team on Tuesday. The Eagles had excused Cooper last Friday and sent him away for counseling after video surfaced of him using a racial slur at a Kenny Chesney concert in June. Cooper is expected to start at wide receiver Friday when the Eagles open their preseason schedule against the Patriots.

>>Nelson to Miss Remainder of Training Camp

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson, coming off an injury-plagued season, will miss the rest of training camp after undergoing a procedure on his knee.  The Kansas State product is entering his sixth season with the Packers. Also on Tuesday, the Packers signed quarterback Vince Young. Young last played with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2011.

>>ESPN Report: Manziel Allegedly Received $7,500

Reigning Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel allegedly received $7,500 from an autograph broker for signing memorabilia, according to an ESPN report that surfaced Tuesday.  The news comes two days after ESPN’s “Outside the Lines” investigation team reported that the NCAA is currently investigating the Texas A&M quarterback over suspicions that he was compensated for signing hundreds of autographs while in Miami to attend this past January’s BCS  National Championship Game. The most  recent accusation regarding the controversial redshirt sophomore involved autographing approximately 300 Texas A&M helmets,
with the broker showing ESPN cell phone videos of Manziel  signing the paraphernalia in a hotel room.

Tony  Stewart will not compete in this weekend’s Sprint Cup Series race at Watkins Glen International after undergoing surgery for a broken leg.  Stewart, a three-time Sprint Cup champion, broke his right tibia and fibula when he was involved  in a multi-car  accident during a sprint car race on Monday night at Southern Iowa Speedway.
