SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, Tammy Dickinson, announced that a Springfield, Mo., woman pleaded guilty in federal court yesterday to producing and distributing child pornography.

According to a press release, Tracy Ann Smith, 41, of Springfield, pleaded guilty May 10, 2016,  to the charges contained in a January 19, 2016, federal indictment before U.S. District Judge M. Douglas Harpool.

By pleading guilty today, Smith admitted that she used a minor, identified as Jane Doe #1, to produce child pornography between November 1, 2014, and January 8, 2016. Additionally, Smith admitted that she received and distributed child pornography during that time.

Under federal statutes, Smith is subject to a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in federal prison without parole, up to a sentence of 50 years in federal prison without parole.

This case was investigated by the Springfield, Mo., Police Department and the FBI. It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney James J. Kelleher.
