DEKALB COUNTY, Mo. — An accident in DeKalb County injured a Stanberry driver after she fell asleep at the wheel.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 58 year old Brenda Kemper of Stanberry was southbound on Route J, five miles south of Amity, at 9:55 this morning when she fell asleep.

The vehicle went across the center line and partly off of the northbound lane. Kemper over corrected and traveled back across the roadway when she went off the southbound side, struck a ditch and struck a tree.

Kemper was taken by Clinton-DeKalb EMS to Cameron Regional Medical for treatment of moderate injuries.
