ICONIUM, Mo. (AP) — The bodies of two duck hunters have been recovered in a west-central Missouri lake. Forty-three-year-old Sean Sheldon and 34-year-old Jason Evers were reported missing by relatives when they failed to return. The bodies of the Osceola area men were found in the Osage River section of Truman Lake.
OSAGE BEACH, Mo. (AP) – Ameren Missouri has unveiled a revised shoreline management plan at Lake of the Ozarks that the utility says should spare most of the 1,600 homes previously threatened for removal. The plan still requires approval by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
LEBANON, Mo. (AP) – A judge has ruled out the death penalty for a central Missouri woman accused of killing her seven-month-old baby by setting fire to his blanket. Senior Judge Miles Sweeney was appointed by the Missouri Supreme Court to determine whether Christina White was eligible for the death penalty. The 2007 killing occurred at a home in the town of Iberia.
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) – Missouri lawmakers will be trying to plug a half-billion-dollar gap in next year’s budget when they convene their 2012 session today. State budget director Linda Luebbering says much of the hole is due to a reduction in federal money. The growth of health-care costs is also straining the budget.
JOPLIN, Mo. (AP) — Two weapons owned by Bonnie and Clyde are going up for auction. The owners of a tommy gun and a 12-gauge 1897 Winchester shotgun that was used by the infamous bandits will put them up for bidders on January 21st in Kansas City. Until recently, the guns were displayed at the Springfield Police Museum.
ST. LOUIS (AP) — The head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation office in St. Louis has stepped down. Special Agent in Charge Dennis Baker reached the mandatory FBI retirement age of 57. Baker led the St. Louis office since 2010.
ST. LOUIS (AP) — Four new Missouri House members will wait a week to be sworn into office. State lawmakers return to the Capitol today to open the annual legislative session. The newly-elected legislators are Republican Chrissy Sommer, independent Tracy McCreery and Democrats Judy Moran and Brandon Ellington.
ST. LOUIS (AP) — St. Louis Zoo officials are celebrating a year of near-record attendance. The zoo says attendance last year topped the three million mark and surpassed the 2010 numbers. The all-time record was slightly more than 3.1 million visitors in 2009.
