MORGAN COUNTY, Mo. — A swimmer drowned at the Lake of the Ozarks Sunday night.

According to a report from the Missouri Water Patrol, investigators responded to the 56 mile marker of the Osage Arm of the Lake of the Ozarks in Morgan County around 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

A male swimmer, identified as David W. Crouse, 57, of Stover, attempted to retrieve a vessel sent adrift and drowned as he attempted to reach the vessel.

Crouse was not wearing a safety device and was released to Kidwell Garber Funeral Home.
