SEDALIA, Mo. — Formal charges have been filed against a Sedalia resident stemming from a burglary and assault in December.
James “Jimmy” Elves, 59, was arrested following a burglary on Christmas Eve in which he broke into an elderly Sedalia resident’s house, assaulting her before making off with jewelry and cash.
Surveillance video and cell phone records allegedly place Elves at the scene of the crime as it occured.
Elves has been charged with felonies for 1st degree robbery, armed criminal action, 2nd degree assault – special victim, unlawful use of a weapon, and 1st degree burglary.
Elves is also suspected of two other burglaries in Sedalia on Dec. 28, according to the probable cause statement.
$500,000 bond, cash or surety, has been set for Elves. Future court dates are currently pending.
