Officers received the call just before 8:30 a.m. October 5, when a woman reported she was robbed at knife point. She claimed the man took her purse, keys, cell phone and car. He then proceeded eastbound on West Broadway before robbing another woman at gunpoint, taking her personal items.
According to the Columbia Police Department, an FBI agent in the area later recognized the stolen vehicle on Highway 63. The agent activated his lights and sirens, but the suspect refused to stop. The suspect exited Highway 63 at the Broadway exit and abandoned the vehicle near the Elks Lodge. Cedar Ridge Elementary School was notified to be on alert.
Glen E. Lewis, 43, was finally apprehended around 10:10 a.m. Monday, and charged with two counts of Armed Criminal Action and 1st Degree Robbery. He faces additional charges of Felony Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Felonious Restraint, and Felony 1st Degree Tampering.
Lewis is currently awaiting bond.
