Suspect in custody after shooting in Lee’s Summit

LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. – At approximately 6:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, Lee’s Summit police officers were called to a local hospital on the report of a gunshot wound. In speaking with the victim, officers were able to determine that the shooting took place inside a home in the 100 block of Northwest Chipman. Traffic and school bus routes were diverted along Chipman Road and the department’s Emergency Services Squad responded to the scene. After several hours of negotiations the suspect surrendered to Police and Detectives were able to begin processing the scene for evidence. The victim’s injuries are listed as serious but non-life-threatening. The investigation into the shooting is on-going at this time.
