LAFAYETTE COUNTY, Mo. — A suspect is in custody after a shooting and high speed chase this morning in Odessa.
According to a press release from the Odessa Police Department, Shortly before 9:00 a.m. Odessa Police received a call of a walk-in to the Odessa Fire Department on a person who had been shot in the leg. Officers then responded to the Fire Department.
The suspect then abandoned the vehicle and tried to flee on foot in rural Odessa. Law enforcement received another call at the time regarding another stolen vehicle by the possible armed suspect. Officials were able to locate the second stolen vehicle, a high speed pursuit was engaged.
During the pursuit, the suspects vehicle traveled off the roadway and crashed. The suspect was taken into custody afterwards.
The victim who was shot was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non life threatening injuries.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol and Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department also assisted at the scene.
The case remains under investigation.
