SALINE COUNTY, Mo. — A suspended Slater police officer was scheduled in a Saline County courtroom Wednesday morning for a counsel status hearing. Benjamin Thomas, 29, admitted to investigators with the Missouri State Highway Patrol that he was involved in an inappropriate romantic and sexual relationship with an unidentified 16 year old girl. According to the probable cause statement, he refereed to the underage female as his “girlfriend.” He is charged with second degree statutory sodomy. Mr. Thomas’ hearing was continued to March 1 at 9:00.
