The Sweet Springs Board of Aldermen amended their nuisance ordinance at this week’s meeting. The city law has been changed to define notification dates.

The Board also discussed the Lagoon project. The Department of Natural Resources will not not give final approval on the plans until funding is complete. One requirement is proving ownership of the land, which means having the title opinion done on the lagoon project. This was approved, and the cost is not to exceed $500.

The accessibility of the park was discussed. The Department of Natural Resources sent a letter concerning the ability of handicapped people to move about the area. The City’s Public Works Department had an estimate completed, and the cost to make the improvements would be about $30,000. As this is not possible this year, the City acknowledged the need and sent the outline of a plan to spread the work over several years. They have not yet heard if this is acceptable.
