Raymond Kinney announced that he will be stepping down as Mayor of Sweet Springs effective Friday June 28th. Click to hear KMZU’s Chelsea Wade talk with Sweet Springs Mayor Raymond Kinney:
“We hate leaving the town. There are a lot of people around the community that we have really become close to,” Kinney said. “It has been a hard decision but we are excited and a little bit anxious about it at the same time.”
Kinney stated that his family has lived in Sweet Springs for more than 15 years, five of which he has served the town as mayor.
“My wife and I have purchased a house in Raymore, Missouri so we will be moving out of town,” Kinney added. “The reason for the move is to get closer to work and closer to my family. My folks are getting older so we will be up there and able to help them out.”
Kinney said the hardest part of moving away will be leaving all of the relationships he has forged with the citizens of Sweet Springs and the surrounding area behind.
