WASHINGTON D.C. – Two congressmen from Missouri are sponsoring a bill, introduced in the U.S. House, meant to increase tax deductions for teachers.

The bill sponsored by Representatives Sam Graves (R – MO-06), and William Lacy Clay (D – MO-01) has bipartisan support. The bill doubles tax deductions for full time teachers, and allows, for the first time, a deduction of $250 for part time teachers.

Graves says in a press release, “Teachers often spend their own money to provide much-needed supplies and materials for their classrooms.” Clay says, “it’s wrong to ask teachers to foot the bill for extra supplies without helping them pay for it.”
