The City of Marshall is continuing its efforts to return a 911 tax that was accidentally collected. Click to hear KMZU’s Sarah Scott speak with City Administrator Connie Latimer:
Latimer said they have only just now managed to get the phone companies to stop sending them that money. She has been trying to work with the organizations that collected the money for the phone companies. “I’ve asked them numerous times to please let us know how we can get the information to know who to give this money back to,” said Latimer, “Because if we just send it back to the companies, then we’re afraid that they’ll just keep it, and our taxpayers won’t get the money back that they should have.” It is not yet clear when the refunds will be made, but it could be several months.
