The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office is warning resident of yet another potential scam.

According to the press release, Sheriff Steve Cox indicates area residents are receiving emails claiming to be from [email protected] The email directs people to NOT Respond and describes situations requiring money be submitted to the IRS. The email has an attachment that the sheriff warns could be a virus and warns recipients to not open the file.

The irs.gov website has a list of known scams that use the name of the tax agency and the public is encouraged to educate themselves about potential abuses during tax season.

This specific email has a zip file attached that may be a virus or way for to unknowingly permit criminals to have access to your personal and financial information on your computer.
