Carrollton Public Library is using Teen Reading Week to kick off a new program. Click to hear KMZU’s Bob Allen talk with Carrollton Public Library Director Sue Lightfoot:
Lightfoot says Kasey Walden started the T-Three reading club to foster a love of reading among youth. Lightfoot says the program will start with book nominated for the Mark Twain Award and then move forward from there. Walden will read to participating students at the library every Wednesday after school.
Lightfoot says the program will kill two birds with one stone as youth will have a chance to read socially and the books read can be used by students for Accelerated Reader points at school.
The American Library Association sponsors the annual week-long celebration that draws attention to the benefits of reading.
