In Ray County, a Richmond man facing theft charges appeared on Wednesday. Nathan Beagley, 33, is facing one count of burglary and three counts of theft-stealing. He is accused of breaking into a home on Norris Road. He is scheduled for a criminal setting on January 17th.

A probation violation hearing was held last Monday for a Sedalia man. Malcolm Briscoe, 23, pleaded guilty to domestic assault and burglary in April. He was sentenced to four years in the Department of Corrections, with a suspended execution of sentence, so he was instead required to serve five years probation. A hearing has been scheduled for February 13th.

The jury trial has been scheduled for a Carrollton woman accused of burning her child with hot water. Laneen Mason, 27, will go before a Carroll County jury on the 23rd of January. During the investigation, Mason maintained that the seven-month-old child, who was burned on 46 percent of his body, turned on the water himself. Authorities looked into the claim, and say this is impossible.

A Marshall man appeared for a bond reduction hearing on Wednesday. Terry Davenport, 56, is charged with statutory sodomy and child molestation. Bond is currently set at $50,000. The motion to reduce this amount was continued, and will be addressed on the 22nd of January. At last week’s hearing, Davenport’s public defender entered a motion to withdraw from the case, which was granted by the Saline County judge.
