TUSHKA, Okla. (AP) — A powerful storm system is moving into the Deep South this morning, after producing a tornado that killed two people in Oklahoma and three more dead in Arkansas.

The tornado ripped through the tiny town of Tushka (TUHSH’-kuh) is southeastern Oklahoma late yesterday. It downed trees and power lines and tore up buildings, forcing many to seek shelter with friends and relatives. One woman who hid in a storm cellar says the tornado “felt like a bomb” when it hit.

In Arkansas, two people were killed when a tree fell on a home and a third man was killed when winds blew down another tree, which crashed onto his recreational vehicle.

The storm system is now moving into Tennessee, Louisiana and Mississippi.
