A multiple vehicle accident just outside of Columbia on I-70 is effecting traffic in both directions, that’s according to a KMZU listener. The caller says there are at least two semi trucks and two or three other vehicles involved. It’s not known at this time what the extent of the injuries may be, if any. One semi truck is reportedly in flames. Emergency crews are working the scene. Motorists are being encouraged to use alternate routes if possible and make sure to give crews the space to get the scene cleared.

Update:

An accident reported by a KMZU listener on Interstate 70 this (Mon) morning at the 120.5 mile marker was fatal for a Georgia driver. According to the Highway Patrol, Sean Gibson, 41, of Waynesboro, ran into the rear of slow moving traffic on Eastbound I-70 in Boone County. Gibson struck the rear of Isaac Kissel, 56, of Council Bluffs Iowa, who hit Debra Fisher, 45, of Saint Louis, then hit Ryszard Doniec, 58, of Surrey British Columbia. Gibson was ejected from his semi on impact and was pronounced dead at the scene. Fisher’s vehicle overturned in the median and Fisher and her passenger, Phyllis Dangler, 74, of Tampa Florida were moderately injured and taken to University Hospital.
