A temporary traffic signal is being installed at the intersection of 190 and Hornet Drive in Chillicothe. Click to hear KMZU’s Sarah Scott speak with Chillicothe High School Principal Brian Sherrow:
They have almost had many accidents at that crossroads near the High School. The District worked with the City and MoDOT to come up with a solution.
“We came to a way to put in a traffic signal, to try to make that a safer intersection without having to spend a lot of money from taxpayers to get that to happen,” said Sherrow, “So it’s really not a long-term solution, but it should get us through the next few years until we can come up with a way to get that to happen. A redesigned intersection to make it as safe and convenient as possible for all vehicles traveling through.”
The funding came from the Missouri Department of Transportation. More permanent solutions could include a roundabout in the area.
Installation is still underway, but will be complete by the time students return on August 21st.
