TRENTON, Mo. – A Trenton police officer was dragged by a defendant who drove away from a traffic stop early Saturday morning.
The press release from the Police Department says Sergeant Matt Preston conducted the vehicle stop around 6:52 a.m., in the 900 block of Olive Street. When Sergeant Preston identified the driver as having an active warrant, the driver accelerated, dragging the officer a short distance. The male driver and a female passenger were later arrested by Grundy County deputies and Missouri State troopers. Sergeant Preston was treated at Wright Memorial Hospital and released back to full duty.
The suspects names will be released after formal charges are filed.
